September 2, 2009 – Second Mill Site Specific Plan Joint Study Session with the City Council and
Planning Commission

On Wednesday, September 2, 2009, the Mill Site Specific Plan consultant team will attend a second joint study session with the City Council and Planning Commission to focus on the future reuse of southern area of the Mill Site. The RRM team will present recommended policy measures designed to encourage desired uses for future land use that will be established in the Mill Site Specific Plan. A primary goal of this meeting is to receive feedback from key City leaders on the conceptual vision prior to preparation of the Draft Specific Plan by the
RRM team.

June 24, 2009 – Mill Site Specific Plan Joint Study Session with the City Council and Planning Commission
On Wednesday, June 24, 2009, the Mill Site Specific Plan consultant team will attend a joint study session with the City Council and Planning Commission. The RRM team will present the recommended conceptual vision for future reuse of the Mill Site. A primary goal of this meeting is to receive feedback from key City leaders on the conceptual vision prior to the RRM team beginning to prepare the Draft Specific Plan.

May 9, 2009 – Fort Bragg Mill Site Community Workshop #3 and Mill Site Tour
Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Dana Gray Elementary School

Join the redevelopment project team, City leaders, and your neighbors for:

  • Specific Plan workshop to discuss land use alternatives, develop
    key aspects of a preferred plan, and participate in an interactive
    visual preference survey for future redevelopment
    (9am until 12 noon at Dana Grey Elementary)
  • Guided bus tours of the mill site, including Coastal Trail zone
    (Beginning at 12 noon)
  • Project Center open house with the project team
    (1pm to 4pm)

All are welcome! To prepare for the May workshop, participants can access all materials presented in January at the Second Specific Plan Community Workshop page.


May 2009 – Community Workshop #2 to Air on MCTV

January 14, 2009 – Fort Bragg Mill Site Specific Plan Community Workshop #2
At this second in a series of public workshops, the Specific Plan team will report on past and recent local studies and public input compiled about redevelopment opportunities and constraints, including a detailed market analysis of factors affecting future redevelopment of the mill site.

November 12, 2008 – Fort Bragg Mill Site Specific Plan Community Workshop
This first in a series of public workshops is designed to create opportunities for community input and dialogue about future redevelopment of the 415-acre former mill property in Fort Bragg. The workshops are part of a comprehensive land-use planning process to develop a "Specific Plan" that will guide how and where future redevelopment occurs on the property.

September 16, 2008 – DTSC Community Open House
Project representatives will be on hand to answer questions regarding the approved OU-A RAP and other ongoing activities at the mill site.

June 3, 2008 – DTSC Approves Interim Action RAP
DTSC has approved the bioremediation of soils and groundwater within portions of operable units C and E. DTSC authorized the field work to proceed by issuing a public Work Notice, and has also issued its Response to Comments document that provides agency responses to public comments received during the public comment period.

2009 Timeline

Implementation of soil and groundwater cleanup work under two DTSC-approved remedial action plans (RAPs) continues at the Fort Bragg Mill Site in Fort Bragg, California. Phase 2 of interim action activities (under the IARAP) will run from April through October 2009. Soil cleanup as part of the Operable Unit A (OU-A) RAP will also proceed this year in preparation for future extension of the Coastal Trail and other redevelopment being considered by the City of Fort Bragg. The timeline below provides an overview of planned work activities; however, all times and tasks are estimated and subject to change.
